Jan 9 2010 Wonthaggi Show, first gig Dougie & John had played together. 3 half hour sets in searing heat on the Wonthaggi Footy Oval. Still a fun day and the sea breeze did keep the temp down. |

November 28 A big weekend, played the Inlet Hotel in Inverloch for Rod's 50th Birthday on the Friday night, 4oth anniversary og the recording of Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. Up at 7.30 the next day to set up the Korumburra Buskers Festival. Won the open band section as well. Then off to Tarwin Lower for an acoustic gig at the Fishing Village, Venus Bay. Joined on guitar by Jackhammer Guitarist Neil Sandlant. Great fun night. Over to the Royal Hotel in Loch for the annual Movember fund raiser. I was thinking at the time, "God I'm gonna regret this Monday", but I was having a ball at the time. ( Took till about Wednesday to get over it ). So an end comes to another "I'm too old for this shit tour". |

November 21 The much anticipated Meeniyan Carnivale, got to the gig at 9.30 in the morning, ready to play at 10.00am, rain started and just got heavier. Knew we should have practiced Who'll Stop The Rain the night before when we had the chance. Great set though, 25 mins of pure Rock & Roll original music ( Video on home page). Got paid and put all the money straight back into Meeniyan. A big thanks to Graeme and Pam from the Meeniyan Hotel. |

July 25
Had a fun night down at the Fishing Village Bar & Cafe at Venus Bay, Last minute gig, only got asked on the Thursday before the gig. Had a few people turn up, played nearly 4 hours straight, very hard on the fingers.
June 28
Played a Jamm Session at The Royal Hotel Drouin. First gig with Tony on Bass, went very well , played 5 originals, forgot the words to Ladies Maid, otherwise very good. Did a set of covers with Sean McDonough on drums. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM right handed drummer.

June 7
Did the local Muso show at 3MFM in Inverloch with Noella Goodchild, went pretty smoothly for the most part except for broardcasting a live version of "Sail Away" that drops the "F" bomb at the end. We had all forgotten it was there and there was stunned silence when we all heard it. It is the version that will be in the "Live Songs" on the Song page, so you can see what naughty boys we have been.
After the radio we motored on down to the Meeniyan Hotel for the monthly Jam Session and played a few self penned masterpieces with Brendon on Drums that were recorded for " Russ Kellett's Melbourne " show on channel 31, 11;30 pm Tuesday. I can't get channel 31 so I may never see it. Good fun afternoon. Nice version of "Old Man Time" made a mess of "Sail Away" ( It just wasn't the day for that song)finishing up with the loudest and possibly uglyest version of Roadhouse Blues you are ever likely to see, I believe they had run out of video tape at that point , so it may never be seen anyway. We will try to make the effort to to be at the Royal Hotel in Drouin on the 27 June for the next Jam Session.
May 2
Practice at Dougies for his birthday, played as a four piece with Tony on Bass, Pretty good sound for a first time. Interesting recording using James's 8 way plug in thing and his lap top. See version of "GOODBYE" in songs page.
April 25th Played a great gig at Mick & Julie's wedding in Benambra at the weekend. Who the Hell drives 5 hours to go to work? It was worth it though, even in the cold and driving rain, about 200 party going guests, drank and danced till 1.30 in the morning. I have no idea when they started but they seemed to have a big head start on us when we arrived around 7.00. When people are dancing to "Love In Vain" you know they'll dance to anything. We were wined and dined and played till our fingers bleed, mostly 3 min rock songs that were extended to over 10, hey when something is working. Stayed the night at the Benambra pub, might look at a gig there in future. Long way to to but a nice piece of the world, and really quite a nice drive. All the best to Mick & Julie in the future, thanks for a great night. Brendon, Jim & John at Benambra, Photo by Gav |

April 3 Wonthaggi Workmans Club Fun night, about 5 bands played a Bush Fire benifit while about 100 people played a pool comp, never played in front of so many pool players before in my life. Beer was cold, stout was black, what more can you ask for. April 4, Drill Hall Korumburra Played the first of what we hope to be many musical nights at the newly refurbished Drill Hall in Korumburra, along with great young musicians from Korumburra High School, Kaitlyn O'Brian, Accidental Rumor and a rockin' set from Innuendo. Marty Box opened the night because Marty Box Rocks. |
March 19 '09 WELCOME TO BACK STREET We have finished recording a second CD in the shed at home. The finished product being the basis of the web site at the moment. The songs on this CD are all songs we have been playing for a number of years and really should know backwards. Some would say knowing songs backwards suits us. All songs can be downloaded from the songs page. The main recording was done on a Tascam 2488 digital recorder in my shed. Most over dubs were done at James extent ion thingy with his lap top using pro tools. The last couple of songs were recorded in Dougies lounge during a practice. While not sounding like the million dollar productions of some CDs, we were very happy with the results. We have come along way from the old Tascam 4 track all those years ago. But this is what our little band actually sounds like. We can play all these songs as a three piece band and most of the recorded tracks are live with only an acoustic guitar dubbed on. The vocals were all done later as well as live vocals tend to have alot of background leakage when recording in a shed. Still the hourly recording raye was quite cheap. The whole album cost about $2500 to make, and that included buying the recorder and microphones!! |
